Early Retirement Bridge
Mind the gap before 59½ and 65
Retiring early leaves two gaps most calculators skip: the years before you can touch retirement accounts without a penalty, and the years before Medicare. Size both here.

Where the numbers come from
Health insurance estimates start from the 2026 national average benchmark silver plan for a 40-year-old ($625 a month), scaled by the federal age curve. Subsidies follow the 2026 IRS percentages: the enhanced subsidies expired at the end of 2025, so households above 400% of the poverty line pay full price. Poverty lines are the 2025 HHS figures used for 2026 coverage. The 401(k) limits are the IRS 2026 figures: $24,500 for your own contributions and $72,000 in total.
Rules change every year and these are simplified estimates, not tax or legal advice. Check healthcare.gov for real quotes and your plan documents for what your 401(k) allows.
